A lot of people have an idea of what an author event looks like based upon experience with the most popular authors. They envision a crowded room, a line of people, and a party. For most authors, even fairly well-liked, traditionally published authors, the reality is setting up a small table at a local bookstore while people pass by and occaisionally smile at you.
I know this as the bookseller in the scenario, not the author.
But hey! Now I get to. I'm not sure what the typical experience for authors at their first event is, but mine will take place on 6/8 at Englewood Public Library in Englewood, CO. It's a festival including several authors, so there are more reasons than little old me to come and check it out. I think I'm lucky to be included in such a large-scale event.
So...if you're around, come visit! I have my books, sure, but I'll also have tiny light up skateboards and tiny pink cowboy hats because reasons.
